The Government of Canada, as part of the 2021 federal budget, announced the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP). The goal of the CDAP program is to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to meet the challenges of the digital age and reach their full potential.

‘Grow Your Business Online’ Grant
The Federal Government’s ‘grow your business’ online funding plans to support 90,000 small businesses. The goal is to enable service industries, consumer-based enterprises, and small businesses to adopt e-commerce technologies.
For-profit firms, such as social enterprises and co-operatives, qualify for a $2,400 micro-grant. Small businesses will receive advice from online business assistance organizations in establishing an impactful online presence. Receive $2,400 micro-grant to offset expenditures associated with e-commerce adoption.
This Grow Your Business Online micro-grant covers website development, e-commerce platform subscription fees, search engine optimization and social media advertising costs.
You also get access to a network of Canadian digital experts such as Wingman to meet and who will assist you maximize digital tools efficiently.
‘Boost Your Business Technology’ Grant
Boost your Business Technology funding is for SMEs to improve their position in the digital marketplace. Businesses that meet the minimum requirements are eligible to get this funding. The Boost Your Business Technology funds will support around 160,000 SMEs.
Businesses seeking this funding may be aiming to adopt new digital inventory management systems, customer relationship software, network security software, and other technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics that can boost their bottom line.
SMEs can apply for the Boost Your Business Technology grant to cover 90% of the costs involved in hiring a certified digital advisor such as Wingman Digital Advisors to create a strategic digital adoption plan, up to a maximum of $15,000.
Once funded, SMEs will be also able to apply for an interest-free loan of up to $100,000 from the Business Development Bank of Canada to help them implement their digital adoption plan and acquire new technologies.

CDAP ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- $500,000+ in Revenue. Have earned at least $500,000 of annual revenues – but not more than $100,000,000 – in at least one of the previous three tax years.
- < 500 Employees. Between 1 – 499 full time equivalent employees. Part-time employees are pro-rated as percentage of FTEs
- For Profit Private Company. Is a sole proprietor whose owner is a Canadian resident or Is a business incorporated under the laws of Canada or a province or territory
- Any Province or Territory. Canadian-controlled Private Corporation (CCPC) incorporated under the laws of Canada, or a province or territory as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency

Think of it as a roadmap for strategic success. Every SME is unique so the recommendations for each business could vary immensely.

HOW IT WORKS
$2,400 Micro-grant to assist with your digital presence or digital storefront Up to $15,000 Boost Your Business Technology grant available to create your Digital Adoption Plan Interest-free loan of up to $100,000 from BDC to execute the Plan And, get $7,300 hiring subsidy towards a Hire-a-Student resource
Any eligible Canadian businesses can apply for the grant. The federal government will pay up to $15,000 (or 90%) of the total cost to hire Wingman as your trusted digital advisor. For example, you would only be responsible for the remaining 10% (or $1,500) on a $15,000 contract.
*Beware of any companies asking you for your personal information such as SIN number or banking information. Any pertinent data will be collected through the federal government.
CONFIRM ELIGIBILITY

- FILL IN DIGITAL NEEDS ASSESSMENT (DNA). Fill in a quick digital needs assessment form (10 minutes) on the official CDAP site. You can do this on your own or we can assist you.
- APPLY FOR GRANT After completing the assessment form, you will then apply for the Boost Your Business Technology Grant. You will be invited to assign us as your digital advisor on the CDAP portal.

Apply for Online Growth For Business Grant. Grow your business online with a $2,400 micro-grant. Enable your service industry, consumer-based enterprise, or small businesses to adopt e-commerce technologies. - SIGN CONTRACT AND START PROJECT. We will send you a contract that outlines the scope of work and the outputs we will develop for you to thrive in the digital age. At this time, we will determine best course of action for payment (minimum 1/3 or $5,000 will be required up front).
- DEVELOP AND SUBMIT PLAN. We have 6 months to complete your plan. This will typically include a few meetings and document reviews to create a digital adoption plan that will recommend three (3) solutions to advance your company’s digital footprint. After the plan is submitted and approved by the government, you will receive the grant funding. In turn, those funds are then paid to us.
- TWO MORE BUSINESS BOOSTS. After approval, you will also qualify for the following 2 initiatives:
1. Apply and receive a 0% BDC loan up to $100,000 to assist you in implementing your plan. You will automatically be eligible to apply for a loan for up to $100,000 at 0% interest through Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) to implement the solution of your choice based on our analysis.
2. You will be pre-authorized to apply for a $7,300 Youth Placement Wage Subsidy. Hire a student. You will be eligible to hire a qualified student (secondary, post-secondary, or recent grad) to assist with implementing your digital solutions.
